The Maranatha Christian Church (MCC)<\/strong>, through the Maranatha Christian International Mission (MCIM)<\/strong> in the partnership of the Manoel dos Passos Barros Foundation (MPBF), carries out Social Action and evangelization activities to assist the riverine populations in Eastern Amazonia, more precisely in the cities of Melga\u00e7o, Bagre, Breves and S\u00e3o Sebasti\u00e3o da Boa Vista, located in Maraj\u00f3 Island, in the state of Par\u00e1, within the smaller HDI (Human Development Index – PNUD Brazil 2013) areas of the country.<\/p>\n

From April 2016 through November 2018, six missions have been carried out, which are called the Amazon\u00a0Mission.<\/strong><\/p>\n

1st part: Bel\u00e9m to Melga\u00e7o – red line – 10 hours of navigation.<\/span><\/p>\n

2nd part: Melga\u00e7o para Bagre – yellow line – 2 hours of navigation.<\/span><\/p>\n

3rd part: Bagre for SSBV – orange line – 3 hours of navigation.<\/span><\/p>\n

4th part: SSBV to Bel\u00e9m – green line – 5 hours of navigation.<\/span><\/p>\n

The missions to the Eastern Amazon provide a very poor population with few resources with high-quality specialized medical care.<\/p>\n

As medical care is provided, other members of the team carry out social, educational, and evangelization activities in the streets, houses, shops, churches, squares, and gymnasiums where everyone is invited to hear the Word of God.<\/p>\n

In all activities, the team proclaims the salvation of God in Jesus Christ to man. Distributing invitations (A Word of Hope for Your Heart) and the New Testament, the Word of God is announced.<\/p>\n

The six missions to the Eastern Amazon were carried out on the following dates:
\n1st Amazon Mission \u2013 April 11th through April 20th in 2016;
\n2nd Amazon Mission \u2013 October 17th through October 23rd in 2016;
\n3rd Amazon Mission \u2013 April 7th through April 15th in 2017;
\n4th Amazon Mission \u2013 October 23rd through October 30th in 2017;
\n5th Amazon Mission \u2013 May 20th through May 28th in 2018; and
\n6th Amazon Mission \u2013 November 18th through November 26th in 2018.<\/p>\n

1) Medical and Social Action care <\/strong><\/p>\n

The medical and Social Action care seeks to address the needs of a population extremely lacking this care.<\/p>\n

In each of the Missions, all cities received medical, dental, nursing, and pharmacial services. Pharmaceutical services distribute free drugs as prescribed by the mission doctors. Simultaneously with medical and dental care, dentists take turns giving lectures to children and adolescents in the community on good oral hygiene. In these lectures, oral hygiene kits containing tooth paste, tooth brushes, and dental floss are distributed free of charge to participants.<\/p>\n

The services are performed by physicians, dentists, nurses, pharmacists, and pharmaceutical and nursing assistants who serve the population in the medical specialties of general practice, cardiology, gynecology, pediatrics, orthopedics, radiology, and dentistry.<\/p>\n
